Our First Christmas we had a theoretically brilliant idea. We had this blue Spruce in our backyard planted literally in the middle on the yard. I wanted it gone.. so I thought why waste it? We'll cut off the top of our Christmas Tree! So Aaron traipsed out into the snow with our rusty old saw and brought in the top of our tree. I was so excited....
well until we put it up,
It looked pretty bad, but I was pregnant so with the hormones It looked Terrible!!!!!! So my Sweet Husband took it down and took me shopping for a tree :)
I Loved it :)

The House
After 6 months of looking and much despair we finally found the one OUR FIRST HOUSE!
We discovered that to get anything worth having you had to move quickly so this home was listed at 9am I looked at it at 12pm showed it to Aaron at 9pm and put an offer in at 11 pm. By 9am the next morning the owner had 3 more offers. Thankfully since we offered full asking price the owner said we were first so we should get it. So we did!
It was built in 1949, as far as we can tell we are the third owners. It is unique and cute with a lot of potential. We closed Thanksgiving 2009 and went right to work making it our own. We moved in Feb 2010 and I am sure we will be posting as more and more projects get completed.

Our First Apartment
In continuation of the age old tradition of married couples fulfilling the rite of passage known as "tiny and or crummy first apartment" we made our first home as a family in South Salt Lake. Now the connotation that holds depends greatly on your point of reference. To illustrate this point I share the difference in the reaction between two friends.
I had searched high and low all over the Salt Lake Valley in search of an apartment that would be our first place to live together. I discovered in short order that Salt Lake was vastly different from Cache Valley where an average price for a 2 bedroom apartment was $400 often including utilities. In Salt Lake the most frightening 1 bedroom apartments in halfway decent neighborhoods were $700 not including utilities. So I was thrilled when I found a ok sized (600 sqft) 1 bedroom apt with newer carpets, a fireplace, and access to a pool for $450. Sounds ok right....
Well, proud of my accomplishment I invited my some friends from Lindon to come up and have a picnic on the floor of my new apartment. No sooner had they left the car than I began to see from the look on their faces that they did not share my elation. Over the course of the evening I was instructed on the nessecity of locking doors and windows, made to promise not to walk the neighborhood alone, and the need to insert wooden dowls in window tracks for added security. My dear friend left, I am sure, shaking her head and wondering if she would see me safely again. In contrast when other friends, these from West Valley City, first visited our new home they exclaimed "This is nice!" :) :) :)
